About the Photographer, Rick O'Kelley

I first picked up a camera when I was 10 years old, it was a 120 format Tower Snappy which I still have today. During my younger years I went through all the modern inventions like the Polaroids, the 110 Kodak format and finally settled on the professional 35mm and 645 format cameras.

Because of my early photography experience, when I began my Law Enforcement career in 1976, crime scene photography and darkroom duties became part of my work assignments. To my practical experience I added formal training by completing New York Institute of Photography course, and courses in photography at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden Arkansas and Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Glencoe Georgia. Having vast experience in crime scene photography and become certified in both Arkansas and Oklahoma criminal courts as a photography expert in 1980 my wife and I opened a home based part time photography studio. With the aid of my wife, we operated our home based business as a team. At weddings she was the coordinator long before there was such and at portrait and model shoots she often did the makeup. In 1992 I retired early from Law Enforcement and we closed our part time home based photography business to open a full time computer and Internet based business. I sold my professional film equipment as I saw the move to digital coming and I have been waiting for the dust to settle. Since that time many exciting things have occurred relating to photography. The Internet has given photographers and models an inexpensive method to discover each other and with the explosion of high quality digital equipment photographers can now shoot an endless number of images without breaking their pocket book. At the age of 54 I have restarted my photography career. The images displayed on this site are a tiny example of the thousands of images that I have taken.
